Preventing Illness

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]This time of year, we are frequently faced with the challenge of preventing and containing illnesses such as the cold and the flu in our campuses. As you have likely heard in the media, the novel coronavirus has families and public health officials on alert. While we have no reason to worry about this virus inside our schools at this time, we will continue to monitor CDC reports and be vigilant about following CDC recommendations and protecting your children from the spread of all communicable diseases. Here is the link to the latest information about the novel coronavirus:

Georgetown Hill’s plan to reduce the spread of illness at our schools is as follows:

  1. You may notice signs at your campus to remind you to help wash your child’s hands every morning upon entering the building. Please help your child wash his/her hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. We also advise that you do the same when you pick your child up from school, before going home. Our teachers supervise proper handwashing technique after diapering/toileting, before snacks/lunch, and after coming inside from the playground.
  2. Teachers will continue to be vigilant about sanitizing toys, tables, door knobs, etc. We follow the sanitization guidelines as directed by MSDE Office of Child Care.

  1. If your child is absent for more than two days, please provide a doctor’s note indicating that your child is ready to return to school. If there is a contagious illness in your child’s classroom, your child’s teacher or your director will inform families (while maintaining confidentiality) so that you can look out for possible symptoms.
  2. Campus directors will be providing weekly reports to Georgetown Hill’s Central Office about communicable diseases diagnosed at each campus so we can adjust our response as needed.

We are so grateful for your partnership as we try to stay as healthy as we can this winter![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image image=”9308″ img_size=”full” alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]
