ROCKVILLE, MD — Georgetown Hill Early School announces that construction has officially begun on its state-of-the-art early childhood education center, the Ellen Cromwell School, in historic Woodley Gardens, Rockville. The new flagship campus is being built on the very site where Georgetown Hill first opened its doors almost 25 years ago, marking a sentimental and proud homecoming.

“I am excited to see Georgetown Hill return to Woodley Gardens,” said Peter Cromwell, CEO of the non-profit Georgetown Hill Early Schools. “This moment is the result of significant hard work and careful planning, and it is especially meaningful as we honor the memory of my mother and the school’s founder at this location. She would be so proud. She raised us in this community. We are deeply grateful to the Woodley Gardens community for their patience and ongoing support as we bring this vision to life.”
The new school, located at 850 Nelson Street next to the Woodley Gardens Community Swim and Recreation Center, home of the beloved Woodley Waves swim team, will serve as a vibrant center for learning and growth for young children and their families.

Rachael Hamm Plett, Vice-President of the Woodley Gardens Civic Association, celebrated the news, “We are thrilled to welcome Georgetown Hill Early School back to Woodley Gardens. Their commitment to early childhood education and to our community makes this a wonderful step forward for all our neighborhood families.”

Georgetown Hill Early School will begin accepting registrations for the Fall 2026 school year by March 1st.
